The Pr8 Class: Your Gateway to Secondary School
Are you in 8th grade and struggling with certain subjects, or does the transition to high school seem a little daunting? Then the Pr8 class is designed just for you!
What is the Pr8 class?
The Pr8 class is a unique project for 8th-grade students who sometimes struggle a bit with cognitive learning. This can lead to insecurity, a negative self-image, or motivation issues. Our main goal is simple: to boost your self-confidence and make school more enjoyable for you!
What are you going to do?
On a Tuesday between the fall and May breaks, you’ll head out to explore secondary schools under the guidance of a dedicated mentor. You’ll visit Het Element, Yuverta, and Trivium College. No sitting still all day with your nose in a book—instead, you’ll get to work with your hands and body. You’ll receive brief instructions and get right to work. You’ll be introduced to hands-on subjects such as technology, visual arts, media, design and ICT, music, physical education, health and wellness, baking and hospitality, and services and products. Discover where your talents and interests lie—which makes choosing a high school a lot easier!
Thanks to the Pr8 class, you'll discover that you're often capable of much more than you think, and the transition to high school will feel a whole lot easier and more fun!
Former student of the Pr8 class
“I’ve discovered what I really enjoy. After taking the classes, it quickly became clear that technology is my thing! That made choosing the right school much easier.”
Parent of two former students
“The Pr8 class: what a great idea! It really benefited both of our girls. It helped them become more confident. They looked forward to going every week. It helped them decide which school to attend.”
Learning with Guts
This is what learning with us looks like: on the go, tailored to your needs, and with a focus on you.
Trivium Weeks
Four times a year, your school week takes on a completely different look. During a Trivium Week, you don’t have regular classes. You go out into the world, work together on projects, meet people from outside the school, and discover what you’re good at. Each Trivium Week has its own theme. And during every Trivium Week, you’ll have a Trivium conversation with your mentor and your parent(s) or guardian(s). Learning with courage means discovering and doing!

Customized Hours
Are you struggling with a subject, or could you use some extra help? If so, you can sign up for a personalized tutoring session. During this extra hour, you’ll get help with a subject you’re having trouble with. Asking for help takes courage! That way, you can continue learning with more confidence.
Every Tuesday, during the 5th period, there’s a personalized learning session. Would you like to participate? Let your mentor know. Together, you’ll decide what you need. We’ll then find a teacher who can help you with that subject. That way, you’ll get the help that’s tailored to your needs.
Customized Math and Language Instruction
In the first few years, you’ll have a weekly class where you practice language and math. These are basic skills—things you need every day, in all your classes and outside of school as well. We’ll adapt to your level and pace. Is something still challenging for you? Then you’ll get extra help in this class.
At our school, you’ll practice language and math skills in every subject. Every teacher pays attention to language: in Dutch, math, and history, but also in the hands-on subjects. You’ll learn new words everywhere, practice reading, and learn to understand information thoroughly. You’ll also encounter math in many subjects—for example, when you measure, weigh, or calculate something.
The better your language and math skills are, the easier learning will be—both now and later in vocational school and in your career. Learning with Guts is tailored to your needs!
Your Own Mentor
You'll have a dedicated mentor here. Your mentor knows you well and helps you reach your full potential—not just when it comes to your grades, but also in terms of how you're doing, what you find challenging, and what you're good at.
Your mentor, your subject teachers, and you are all part of the same core team. This means your teachers know each other well and talk to one another about how you’re doing. Are you having trouble with something? We’ll notice right away and work with you to find a solution.
During each Trivium week, you’ll have a Trivium conversation with your mentor. During this conversation, you’ll reflect together on what went well, what you’d like to do better, and what your goal is for the next period.
Is something bothering you, at school or at home? You can always talk to your mentor. Your mentor will listen, help you figure things out, and knows who can help you further if needed. Learning with courage is good for your worries!
Free fruit and lunch
At our school, you get free fruit and a free lunch every school day. Fresh fruit is always available, and at lunchtime, there are freshly made sandwiches.
You can't learn well on an empty stomach. That's why we make sure you can eat something healthy every day. That way, you'll have the energy you need for your classes and everything else you do at school. Learning with courage is good for your well-being!
